All,

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who invested in my campaign, through your funds, time, and hard work. This positive campaign was a model of integrity, and almost all of the other campaigns commented on this fact. I am satisfied that I was able to alter the race for the better and raise the level of debate.

But I am not disappointed that I will not have to leave Colorado. On that note, I would like to tell you about a something that is very important this election year. My campaign may have ended, but another campaign in El Paso County is going strong.

Kyle Fisk is a Republican challenging a Democrat incumbent in State House District 18 (Manitou Springs and downtown Colorado Springs). Kyle dropped our door hangers along with his own literature throughout his district, for which we are very grateful. I am returning the favor by passing along information on his campaign to you. In case you miss campaigning, Kyle's race is a great chance to get involved again in the political process. Kyle will make a great state representative. This year is a crucial one for the future of Colorado, and the more we can do to help get a friend working up in the State House in Denver, the better.

Freedom of Religion

Last week I participated in a forum at Focus on the Family for its employees. A couple of newspapers printed short quotes from me that some people have found difficult to understand. Here are my actual views:

While I prefer that the Islamic Jihadists convert to my world view and receive the benefits of it, my point is that they must give up their world view and their particular version of Islam in order for us to have a peaceful world. From a geopolitical point of view, it does not matter whether they convert to "peaceful Islam" if that be a religion, or Buddhism or whatever, as long as they give up their religious ideology.

I would like to point out that while I believe Jesus is the only way to a proper relationship with God, I do believe that the only way for people to have that relationship is as a result of a free choice. That is totally different from someone, like the Taliban, who believes that people should not have a free choice. I promote freedom. I believe that God invented freedom and gave it as the rightful inheritance of all men. Only freedom is compatible with my world view. Tyranny is not.

I wish all people desired freedom and respected the fact that others will choose differently.

Why vote for me?

Thank you for your careful interest in this Republican Primary. It is true that other candidates espouse the same beliefs I do.

So why vote for me?

Compared to other candidates, I have a proven record of achievements in so many areas.

On fiscal matters, I not only cut taxes, I cut the County property tax rate 33% and I eliminated a tax. And since the County Commissioners are the executive as well as the legislature of the county, I had to implement the cuts by improving government efficiency and I did.

On social matters, I eliminated county funding for elective abortions and set state records for adoptions, and kept the homosexual agenda from even getting on the County government agenda. I think I am the only candidate with proven successful results on social matters.

I have overhauled several major government programs for cost savings, efficiency and effectiveness: welfare, child protection, child support enforcement, workforce development, community corrections. You may not even have heard of these programs, but such programs make up half the county budget and the overhauls saved millions upon millions of dollars while making the programs more effective.

I have over 40 years experience and recognition promoting the conservative agenda effectively, from being published in National Review in 1964, to testifying in Congress against government spending, to carrying petitions and campaigning for Amendment 2 in 1992, to forcing tax cuts and refunding tax money as a county commissioner, to standing up for our military when Mickey Weinstein attacked their talking about their faith.

I have 25 years experience as a businessman in this community, with bottom line responsibility, making employment decisions and payroll. That means I know first hand and intimately how federal laws and regulations affect business.

I have moved to the forefront and become a respected authority in several careers: architecture, energy conservation and alternate energy, business law and public service.

I am not a career politician, but a committed volunteer citizen with a passion for serving our community and our country. I am not supported by politicians and PAC’s.

I have a long, strong record of achievements as a committed volunteer in our community, from volunteering for the Chamber, being on the EDC Board, and boards of other non-profits, to founding non-profits, and volunteering services for them, to running a horse program for special needs children at my home for over 20 years, to providing hospitality and mentoring young military members for over 20 years in my home.

All three of my sons are in the military, so when I make a decision about sending our military into harm’s way, I will do it with the care of a father for his own family.

I could go on, but you get the picture. I am not just words, but mature actions, results, commitment. I have proven I have the skills to work with people of varying interests to get things accomplished. We need to overhaul immigration policy, energy policy, tax policy, and health care finance and to shift priorities to support our fight against Islamic Jihadist fascism and away from nanny statism. Others may be good a getting endorsements. I’m the man to get the job done.

I Am Running for Congress

I am running for Congress, and I very much need your support. I am confident that I would be the most effective Representative for Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District, but I need your help.

Since 1981, I have lived and supported my family in this District. I have actively served the local business community for 25 years both as a professional and as a volunteer. I have raised my family here and sent two sons through the Air Force Academy. I served 8 years (96 months full time, year round) as El Paso County Commissioner.

I know this District from the bottom up. My heart is here. My family is here. I am passionate about our nation and what it stands for: life, liberty, opportunity, faith, free market economy, limited government, truth, beauty, justice, mercy and peace. Our nation and its values are under attack both from the Islamic Jihadists and from the secular left. We must fight hard to keep America vibrant and free.

My values are tested and proven under fire. I am not a career politician. I am a local businessman and professional who has served other individuals and businesses for over 40 years. I have the experience and perspective to effectively represent this District in Congress.

Please help send the most experienced, effective Representative to Congress. I have won three contested elections including a contested general election. I have the strengths to be your Congressman. But I need money to win the Republican nomination.

I also ask you to support my campaign in other ways: talking about me to your friends and relatives, asking others to support my campaign financially and politically, volunteering at events, helping with all the campaign activities.
